Every seat in the rink

Wicked Heart Hockey was founded by someone who has seen this game from nearly every seat in the rink: as a collegiate player, a collegiate and youth coach, a team manager and a parent of two neurodivergent hockey players, with two published books on hockey along the way. That experience shapes everything we do: competitive tournament teams, thoughtful organization, and a culture where players who bring heart, effort and respect belong. It is also why Heart Squad exists. We know firsthand that not every athlete learns, communicates or experiences the rink the same way.

Our roots run through Vermont, Canada and the Mid‑Atlantic, where hockey is played with grit, on frozen ponds and in small-town rinks. Along the way we picked up a little New England slang: "wicked" means really, really good. That is the standard we bring to every tournament we play.

Good questions

Do you offer learn-to-play programs?

No. We build tournament teams, so players should already be skating and playing hockey.

What is Heart Squad?

Heart Squad is our team for neurodivergent athletes and athletes with special needs. Players get a jersey, teammates and real games, with coaches who adjust instruction, structure and pacing to how each athlete learns and plays best. Neurodivergent players are always welcome to try out for our tournament teams too. Heart Squad is a choice, not a placement.

How are players placed from B to AAA?

Players are placed by level so every roster is competitive and every player is challenged. Reach out and we'll walk you through how placement works for the upcoming season.

How do you support neurodivergent players?

We use clear routines, visual demos, step-by-step instructions and advance notice of changes. Families can share their child's needs privately, and we'll build a plan together.

Do you have teams for girls?

Yes. Girls can play on girls' tournament teams, co-ed teams or both. Growing girls' hockey is one of our core commitments.

What if hockey costs are a stretch?

Ask us. We'll talk through options with you, and every request stays private.

How do you handle safety?

Coaches complete background checks, SafeSport training and concussion awareness training. Our full code of conduct and policies are shared with every family at registration.

Either way, a real person from our team writes back.
